OnePlus 6’s imaging prowess teased with a blind camera test

“Is this the flagship to watch out for in 2018?”

There’s a reason why OnePlus users simply love their phones – every smartphone from the brand’s stable, right from the OnePlus One to the OnePlus 5T, is a smashing all-rounder. Sharp displays, flagship processors, more RAM than your laptop, powerful battery life, and yes, cameras that deliver impressive results – the brand’s offerings have it all.

And things are about to get better. You see, the OnePlus 6 launch is just around the corner, and from what we’ve learnt about the device, it’s gonna be the flagship to wait for. But let’s get back to that one feature that usually defines the smartphone experience – the camera.

OnePlus is so confident about its next-gen offering that it’s comparing the handset against some of the best camera phones out there – that too, in a blind test. Head over to the OnePlus 6′ blind test page and you’ll see a collection of photos taken by the current (and it seems to us, the future) camera champions – the iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S9+, Google Pixel 2, and the OnePlus 6 – without revealing which device captured the shot.

You’ll find a bunch of photos which are taken by these four flagships, divided into four common categories: Architecture, Low Light, Portrait, and Low-Light Portrait. You have to vote for what you think is the best photo and guess what, it’s a contest, so participants might just win a OnePlus 6.

Why are we making such a big deal out of it? Well, we all know how good is the camera on the Pixel 2, iPhone X, and the Galaxy S9. So, it certainly shows how much confidence OnePlus has in its upcoming flagship that it’s letting you, the consumer, vote in a blind test.

But what makes the OP6 such a great cameraphone? Well, we’ll have to wait till the launch to know the exact specs, but rumours have it that we can expect a dual-camera setup at the rear, with a f/1.7 aperture and a pair of 16MP and 20MP sensors. For selfie aficionados, the phone is rumoured to have a 20MP shooter at the front.

We aren’t really surprised though, considering that the fashion magazine Vogue used the OnePlus 6 to shoot its latest cover. Featuring actress and model Aditi Rao Hydari, the cover is, for want of a better word – stunning. Could you ever have imagined a smartphone being used to shoot the cover for one of the world’s most famous magazine?

All this suggests that the upcoming OnePlus 6 might offer the best smartphone camera experience in 2018.
