OnePlus 6 to receive the Nightscape mode from OnePlus 6T within a week

“The OnePlus 6T retains the same cameras as its predecessor but brings features like Nightscape and improved HDR performance”

We are just a couple of hours away from the Indian launch of the latest OnePlus 6T (review). However, we already know all details of the handset since it has been unveiled last night in New York. Among other upgrades like in-display fingerprint scanner, bigger battery and waterdrop notch display, OnePlus also showcased the Nightscape mode on the OnePlus 6T’s camera. At the global launch event, the brand also announced that the camera enhancements from OnePlus 6T will also come to OnePlus 6 (review) through a software update.

OnePlus 6T Nighstcape

The Nightscape is a new feature introduced by the brand, which is designed to enhance photos taken in very dim light conditions automatically. We have seen the likes of the same on the latest Google Pixel 3 Duo, which offers the much lauded Night Sight mode. OnePlus revealed that the Nightscape mode uses longer exposure times to get desired results. However, it also utilises detail optimisation, multi-frame stabilization, and noise reduction for finishing touches. OnePlus also claims that the new Nightscape mode shouldn’t take longer than two seconds to process the images clicked in Nightscape mode.

Considering that both OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6 come with a similar set of cameras, it is no wonder that the feature is being ported over to the last generation smartphone as well. To recap, the rear panel on the smartphone house a 16-megapixel primary shooter backed by a 20-megapixel secondary camera and dual LED flash. For selfies, the smartphones offers a 16-megapixel shooter nestled in the waterdrop notch on the front. The core features of both smartphones remains the same including the Snapdragon 845 SoC ticking at the core.

OnePlus has announced that the new software update for OnePlus 6 will be rolling out within this week. It is certainly a good news for those who have the OnePlus 6 and were not willing to upgrade to 6T.
