“The OnePlus 6T will have the latest OxygenOS skin employ atop the Android”
Days after revealing the features of the new OxygenOS, OnePlus has gone ahead and confirmed the Android software on the upcoming OnePlus 6T smartphone. In a post shared on Weibo, the company’s CEO, Pete Lau, revealed that the device will come preloaded with Android 9 Pie out of the box. OnePlus doesn’t always launch its second smartphone of the year with the latest Android version. For example, last year’s OnePlus 5T (review), the successor of OnePlus 5, with Android Nougat instead of Android Oreo. However, it is not entirely a surprise either, as the OnePlus 6 has already received the Android Pie update.
With this announcement, we know the OnePlus 6T – launching on October 30th – will boot Android Pie-based OxygenOS version that brings a whole new UI. The new custom skin is said to bring several changes, including new gesture-based navigations, notifications centre, and the recent apps centre to the UI of the phone. The company touts the latest OxygenOS as “fast, smooth, and burden-less experience with no gimmicks.” Moreover, the UI will come with a built-in AI-based algorithm that will allow the phone to learn from your usage habit.
“We are working on a lot of exciting things for the OnePlus 6T. We have a completely new user interface that you will need to try out in person to understand the changes. Our goal was to express the OnePlus style in our interface, making it the clearest and intuitive version of OxygenOS. We are also working hard to improve the camera, so you can count on higher quality images,” said Pete Lau in an interview.
