For those who have been eagerly waiting for the OnePlus’s latest smartphone special edition, here it is. The company has unveiled the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition in partnership with the leading sports car maker McLaren Automotive in the UK. The new OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition flaunts a new design inspired by McLaren’s Formula F1 racing car. It comes with glass finish back with ‘McLaren’ branding and an orange accents at the bottom and the sides. In terms of hardware, it’s the same as the regular OnePlus 6T (review) variant except for the 10GB RAM and the new 30W Warp Charge standard.
Along with that, the design has been altered to incorporate elements of McLaren’s racing DNA. There are orange accents that fade into black on the back and the glass on the rear has a textured pattern underneath that is made using McLaren’s carbon fibre.
Inside the box is McLaren’s logo, the iconic Speedmark, recreated in McLaren-designed F1 AA grade carbon fiber – the same material used in the McLaren MCL33 2018 Formula 1 car. With the device comes a book celebrating the history of both companies, and on the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition, people can enjoy the exclusive software animations, tuned to McLaren’s unique style and history.

In the UK market, the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition has been priced at £649 that roughly translates to Rs 59,000 in Indian currency. This makes it the most expensive OnePlus device ever. However, one shouldn’t miss that the phone comes with a whopping 10GB of RAM. The first sale of the device starts from December 13th in various markets, such as Western Europe and North America.

OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition specifications
In terms of specifications, the big new introduction is the 10GB RAM onboard, a first for OnePlus. Other than that, the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition gets the same 3,700mAh battery as the standard version but this limited edition model supports 30W Warp Charge standard; the standard OnePlus 6T variant uses 20W fast charging. The new tech is said to be even faster and is claimed to offer a day’s power in just 20 minutes. The 30W power unit includes a Papaya Orange braided cord cable to highlight McLaren’s design elements.
Moving on to the rest of the specifications, the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition sports a 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The screen also houses a fingerprint sensor and a tiny notch up to for selfie camera. The phone employs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset under the hood with 256GB storage.
Other features include dual 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel rear cameras, 20-megapixel selfie camera, and software Android 9 Pie-based OxygenOS. In terms of connectivity, the McLaren Edition offer dual-SIM, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS/ GLONASS, and USB-Type-C charging port-cum headphone jack.
