“OnePlus 6T launch will mark the availability of OnePlus products in Reliance Digital stores, the companies have announced”
OnePlus has come a long way from using an exclusive invite-only purchase model to having exclusive offline stores in India. The brand opened its first experience store in the country in Bengaluru last year. OnePlus has since then gone on to open experience stores in multiple cities including metros like Delhi and Mumbai. Now, the phonemaker is gunning for more market share in the offline domain it seems.
OnePlus and Reliance Digital partnership
OnePlus has formed a strategic alliance with one of the largest consumer electronics chains in India – Reliance Digital. The brand has signed up the Reliance-owned chain to be its offline channel partner in the country. OnePlus has announced that following the official launch in the country next week, the OnePlus 6T will be made available at Reliance Digital stores for customers to experience and purchase. The tie-up with Reliance Digital is also a first from the brand globally. As part of the partnership, both companies will set up exclusive experience zones across the country with phones on display.
Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India, said, “The premium smartphone segment in India is steadily growing, and OnePlus seeks to more effectively tap into this space, with a nifty strategy combining both online and offline platforms for a holistic reach. This partnership with Reliance Digital will equip OnePlus with a more robust physical presence, enabling the brand to cater to its increasing user base through multiple touchpoints across cities. The focus on curating only the best user experience by Reliance Digital resonates with that of OnePlus’ user philosophy.“
OnePlus 6T features and specifications
To recap on the OnePlus 6T, the brand has already confirmed that the smartphone will come with an in-display fingerprint scanner. And for this reason, the upcoming smartphone will also be missing the conventional 3.5mm audio jack as well. The brand has also confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will come with the Android 9 Pie-based OxygenOS out of the box. The company’s CEO, Pete Lau, revealed that the upcoming flagship will have a refreshed interface with new gesture-based navigations, notifications centre, and the recent apps centre. Lau also shared a camera sample from the 6T recently, hinting that there will be a dedicated night mode for low-light imaging.
As for the launch date, the brand has already announced that the handset will be officially unveiled in New Delhi on October 30th. This is the first time that OnePlus is launching the smartphone in India on the same date as the global launch. We will update the price of the flagship on the day of launch, so stay tuned.
