OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro receive Android 10-based OxygenOS 10 update

“The latest public OxygenOS 10 update includes new UI design, full-screen gestures, Game Space, and more.”

OnePlus is currently seeding Android 10 based OxygenOS 10 update for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. Yes, we were pleasantly surprised as well. It was only a few days ago that the company released the second Android 10-based OxygenOS Open beta update for these phones. This makes OnePlus the first OEM, after Essential, to deliver a stable Android 10 update to its customers. As of now, the only other phones running Android 10 are the Pixel devices from Google and the Essential Phone. The Android 10 update for the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro comes just 18 days after Google’s release.

Customers with a OnePlus 7 or 7 Pro device should soon receive the new update. OnePlus stated that the update is being rolled out in stages, so it could take a few days for everyone to get it on their devices. The company has included a complete changelog of what to expect with the OxygenOS 10 update. For starters, the new OxygenOS 10 is based on Android 10 and features a new UI design. The update will also improve privacy by providing better location permissions for apps.

After installing the update, users should find new customisation features that enable changing icon shapes for Quick Setting toggles. OxygenOS 10 brings the full-screen gestures introduced in Android 10. However, OnePlus has added a few customisations to the gestures as well. Users can now add inward swipes from the left/right edge of the screen. A new navigation bar is also present at the bottom, which allows switching between recent apps.

The update also adds the new Game Space, which is a one-stop for all gaming needs. There’s a new Smart display feature that provides information based on time, location, and more. This is available in Ambient Display settings. The Messages app now lets users block spam messages based on keywords. As mentioned in the beginning, the update is currently being seeded to a limited number of users. OnePlus probably wants to make sure that there are no bugs in OxygenOS 10 as the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro are only a few days away.
