“OnePlus 7 Pro display has also received ‘Safety for Eyes’ certification from the VDE Testing and Certification Institute”
OnePlus is scheduled to announce the OnePlus 7 series at an event on May 14th. The flagship series is expected to come in three variants; OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, and a 5G version of the Pro model. Now, ahead of the launch, the Chinese brand has announced that the OnePlus 7 Pro’s display has received an A+ rating from DisplayMate. For those unaware, DisplayMate is a leading evaluator of smartphone displays and is considered an authority on the subject.
In a statement to the press, OnePlus claims the handset scored exceptionally well in terms of colour accuracy, brightness, contrast accuracy and pixel density. It further adds that users can also adjust the display’s colour gamut and colour temperature for suitable screen calibration. The OnePlus 7 Pro display has also received ‘Safety for Eyes’ certification from the independent and neutral VDE Testing and Certification Institute, meaning it can better filter out the harmful blue light that is not suitable for eyes. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau recently revealed the OnePlus 7 Pro’s display will “redefine fast and smooth” and set a new benchmark for mobile displays.
Rumours suggest that the smartphone could sport a 90Hz refresh rate Super AMOLED screen rather than the conventional 60Hz rate. Moving to other specifications, both the variants are expected to rock Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, paired with at least 6GB of RAM and 128GB built-in storage. While the OnePlus 7 Pro is said to have a notch-less 6.7-inch (3,120 x 1,440p) display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, the standard model will reportedly feature a relatively smaller 6.4-inch (2,340 x 1,080p) display with a waterdrop-style notch up top.
The Pro variant is likely to pack triple rear cameras consisting of a 48-megapixel (f/1.6, OIS, EIS) sensor + 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x zoom + 16-megapixel 117-degree wide angle lens. The front pop-up selfie camera will bear a 16-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture lens for selfies. Lastly, the handset will have an in-display fingerprint sensor and a whopping 4,000mAh battery with 30W Warp fast charging support. We should know more details as we move forward.
