“The OnePlus 7 Pro is not only built to attract, but it is also built to last well as it passed the durability test”
The OnePlus 7 Pro is a brand new beauty alright, but does it have what it takes to survive daily wear and tear? With the smartphone barely one day old officially, YouTube channel JerryRigEverything has put it to an ultimate durability test in host Zack Nelson’s standard fashion and he doesn’t hold back. The good thing is the OnePlus 7 Pro not only survived but did satisfactorily well in all the aspects of the test.
As usual, the test starts with the display, and this isn’t to be tried at home intentionally. The OnePlus 7 Pro’s massive 6.67-inch screen is one of the most exquisite ones OnePlus has ever put on a phone. It’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and starts to scratch on level 6 of the Mohs hardness scale while deeper marks are left on it at level 7, like most other similar phones. The back is also protected by Gorilla Glass 5 but it doesn’t have a glossy finish, which is more prone to scratches and smudges. Hence it will be much easier to grip and also less scratch prone. The pop-up module is also protected by glass just like the rear cameras and doesn’t scratch easily either. If you’re wondering, the in-display fingerprint reader worked well even with level 7 scratches which is great to see.
The handset also survived the bend test without any fuss as there was no sign of glass/display separation or noticeable bend in the frame. As for the burn test, the display did better than most AMOLED panels astonishingly not affected by flames even after a minute while most other similar displays show black pixels in around 20 seconds. So, the OnePlus 7 Pro is not only a beast on paper, but it is also a beast in real life that can stand up to daily wear and tear. Now, we’ll have to wait for a teardown and a drop test that will test the phone to its limit and we expect this to happen soon.
