“The OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro are expected to come powered by Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 855+ processor”

Earlier in May, OnePlus introduced its latest flagships in the form of the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. Now going by the brand’s yearly schedule, it’s no surprise that it’ll be releasing the successors of these devices soon. Aptly dubbed the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro, both the handsets are expected to bring in quite a few upgrades. So if you are interested in the upcoming OnePlus flagships, then we’ve rounded up all the rumours to paint a full picture of what to expect from the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro.

Display: all-screen design

The OnePlus 7 arrived with a waterdrop notch, while the OnePlus 7 Pro flaunts a full-screen design with minimal bezels around. As for the “T” variants of these flagships, they are expect to continue with their predecessors’ designs – the 7T will have a notch as the new renders showed, while the 7T Pro should have an all-screen display. They are rumoured to offer the same screen size as their predecessors. To recall, the OnePlus 7 offers a 6.41-inch display and its Pro sibling features a 6.67-inch panel. The two upcoming smartphones are expected to utilise AMOLED panels and feature Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top.

Performance: fuelled by the new flagship processor from Qualcomm

We can expect OnePlus to equip the forthcoming 7T and 7T Pro with Qualcomm’s top-notch chipset, the Snapdragon 855+. The new chip offers a slightly higher clock speed of 2.96GHz as compared to 2.84GHz clock speed of the Snapdragon 855 SoC. The new processor will increase single-threaded performance by 4.2 percent and GPU clock speed is 15 percent higher. As for the RAM and storage variants, the 7T is expected to be available in two options of 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB models. The Pro handset could come in 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 256GB variants. So there won’t likely be any change in the configurations.

Software: Android 10-based OxygenOS incoming?

Software-wise, the OnePlus 7T duo is unlikely to boot OxygenOS ROM based on Android 10 out of the box. However, buyers shouldn’t have to wait too long for the upgrade too. Like always, we can expect OnePlus to integrate some thoughtful features in custom skin. It is working on India-centric OxygenOS features, so expected to see more of those.

Cameras: may get an upgrade

The popular tipster Evan Blass aka @evleaks has recently posted some sketches of the upcoming OnePlus product, which will have a circular camera module at the rear. The recent renders showed the OnePlus 7T will have triple rear cameras in the circular module, so that will be a welcome upgrade for the buyers. Notably, the camera setup will also have “Designed by OnePlus” branding. It is not yet clear whether the 7T Pro will have triple rear cameras or move to the quad-camera setup that is gaining traction in the smartphone industry nowadays. As for the front camera, the smaller model will have a selfie camera housed in a notch and the larger’s will be in the pop-up module on the top edge.
