“OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will launch on April 14th with the Snapdragon 865 SoC, LPDDR5 RAM and up to 120Hz refresh rate, among other things“
OnePlus 8 series is officially scheduled to launch on April 14th and the lineup is expected to include a vanilla OnePlus 8 and a OnePlus 8 Pro model. We recently saw leaked renders have revealed the design in their full glory. Meanwhile, multiple reports have revealed the specifications of the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. Now, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau in a forum post has confirmed some of these specifications. Unsurprisingly, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 865 SoC paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 flash storage. Additionally, the brand reaffirms that the OnePlus 8 series will come with a 120Hz Fluid AMOLED display that was announced back in January and 5G connectivity that was also confirmed earlier this month.
Lau says that it has also included Turbo Write for higher read/write speeds and Host Performance Booster to further improve the random read performance after extended use. However, the executive hasn’t explicitly mentioned all the models in the series would boast these features, so it’s possible only the high-end OnePlus 8 Pro could have them, as suggested by the recently leaked specifications. Furthermore, OnePlus says that it has put in extra efforts into software optimization to maximise the performance of the hardware combination. We expect the company to divulge more information about the upcoming OnePlus 8 series in the days to come.
