OnePlus 9RT has finally launched in India after months of rumors and leaks. The latest offering from OnePlus comes with a 120Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 888 processor, and a 50MP main camera. The phone comes as an incremental upgrade over the OnePlus 9R, which launched alongside the OnePlus 9 series last year. So, it makes sense to compare the OnePlus 9RT with the OnePlus 9R to see what has changed and what hasn’t. Is the OnePlus 9RT a better option when compared with the OnePlus 9R? Well, let’s find out.
OnePlus 9RT vs OnePlus 9R: price in India
OnePlus 9R is available in two memory variants in India – one with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which is priced at Rs 39,999 and one with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, which costs Rs 43,999. The OnePlus 9RT, on the other hand, costs Rs 42,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB variant and Rs 46,999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant.
It is worth noting that since the OnePlus 9R has been around for a while, the brand has been introducing price cuts/discounts on the device now and then, so if price is your concern, the OnePlus 9R appears to be a more affordable choice amongst these two.

Design
In terms of looks, both device look almost identical from the front, as both have a flat panel with a left-aligned single punch-hole selfie camera. The power button and the brand’s iconic alert slider are on the right side of the device, while the volume up and down buttons find their way on the left side. At the back, however, things change ever so slightly if we pay attention to the camera module. The OnePlus 9R has an L-shaped quad-camera module, while the OnePlus 9RT has a vertically-aligned triple rear camera module. Both come with a metal chassis and other than the noticeable change in the rear camera arrangement and the different paint jobs, the OnePlus 9R and the OnePlus 9R look almost identical.

The OnePlus 9RT comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 256GB onboard UFS3.1 memory. Both processors are fairly optimised and should perform well in day-to-day tasks, but the Snapdragon 888 comes with an upper hand when it comes to technical improvements. The Snapdragon 870, on the other hand, has been one of the most balanced chipsets in our testing so far.

The OnePlus 9R features a 6.55-inch FHD+ Fluid AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, and 1,100 nits brightness. The OnePlus 9RT, on the other hand, comes with a slightly larger 6.62-inch FHD+ Fluid AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, and Display P3 color gamut. As mentioned earlier, both come with a punch-hole selfie camera and offer excellent AMOLED panels, but if you prefer a larger display, the OnePlus 9RT could be a better choice for you.
Cameras
The OnePlus 9R has a 48MP Sony IMX586 main camera with OIS and EIS, a 16MP Sony IMX481 ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP monochrome camera. The device can capture 4K videos at 60fps. At the front, the OnePlus 9R features a 16MP selfie shooter.
The OnePlus 9RT, on the other hand, has a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera with OIS, a 16MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. At the front, the device features a 16MP selfie shooter.

The OnePlus 9RT is, no doubt, an upgrade over the OnePlus 9R when we talk about the processor. The display is a tad larger, too, and that’s more or less it when we talk about the upgrades. The OnePlus 9R has a fairly decent processor, and the remaining specifications and features of the device are identical to the new OnePlus 9RT. The OnePlus 9R’s price is lower compared to the price of the OnePlus 9RT. For those who are on a strict budget, the OnePlus 9R still looks like a good choice and should be bought before OnePlus discontinues it.
