It’s official: OnePlus 9T and OnePlus 9T Pro will not be coming this year, OnePlus 9 RT still on the cards

OnePlus has officially told 91mobiles that there will be no OnePlus 9T and OnePlus 9T Pro this year. The company believes its existing lineup of flagships and affordable smartphones meet the specific needs of users in different markets, which is why they don’t feel the need to introduce T versions of the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. According to OnePlus, the OnePlus 9 series are among the best in the industry and will remain competitive throughout the year. While OnePlus has confirmed that there won’t be a OnePlus 9T and OnePlus 9T Pro, it seems the OnePlus 9 RT is still on the cards.

OnePlus 9 RT will launch this year… most likely

OnePlus has clearly stated that there won’t be a T series version of the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. However, when asked about the OnePlus 9 RT, the company did not provide an answer. Unlike the OnePlus 9 flagships which are global models, the OnePlus 9 RT is said to be a regional model, made exclusively for India and China.

Multiple reports have suggested that the OnePlus 9 RT will be launching in October. October 15th to be precise. The OnePlus 9 RT does not fall under the T series per se as it isn’t an upgraded version of the OnePlus 9 but rather the OnePlus 9R.

With a more comprehensive product range and more localized products, we are now better able to meet the specific needs of users in different markets. With this new direction, we will not be releasing a global T version of the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro in 2021. What will OnePlus 9 RT offer?

The OnePlus 9 RT is rumoured to feature a 6.55-inch FH+ Fluid AMOLED 120Hz display. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The phone is expected to ship with Android 11 out of the box with the latest OxygenOS skin on top.

Speaking of software, OnePlus also announced that they and OPPO will come out with a unified OS in 2022. The unified OS will first be seen on the OnePlus 10 series next year. Existing OnePlus phones, including the OnePlus 9 RT, will get updated to the unified OS in 2022.

Coming back to the OnePlus 9 RT, its rear camera system will reportedly include a 50MP primary sensor, a 16MP wide-angle lens, and a 2MP mono lens. At the front, the phone will get a 16MP sensor. Lastly, we expect to see a 4,500mAh battery and 65W fast charging support.
