“The OnePlus 6T is the best selling premium smartphone in India, but it’s not without any problems”
Several users of the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, even the OnePlus 5T, have been complaining about an audio quality issue when using certain third-party apps. This issue has been around for a couple of months now, but OnePlus hasn’t addressed it yet. Users seem to facing issues when making calls or recording video using apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Snapchat. The audio quality is horrible, according to some users, and it sounds very small, muffled and distant. Apparently, the apps end up using the top microphone on the devices to record the audio on these apps.
The problem is, the top microphone is used for noise cancellation, which is why the audio seems to be distant, muffled and tiny. The issue isn’t present in other third-party apps such as Instagram. Although most complaints are from the users of OnePlus 6 and 6T, several users on the OnePlus 5T are also facing this issue. Some users have also come across this bug on the OnePlus 3. This indicates that this is definitely a software issue, which means that it can be fixed.
According to a couple of users, this bug could also cause problems with Google Assistant, where it wouldn’t wake up. Users have faced such an issue on the OnePlus 6 and 6T. This is certainly possible as the microphone would be cancelling the noise. OnePlus hasn’t yet confirmed about this bug, nor has it issued any updates that would fix it.
The OnePlus 6T has had its fair share of issues. Most recently, a battery optimization bug caused apps to force close and stop receiving notifications, which caused usability issues. Also, earlier this week, several users took to the OnePlus forums to complain about sudden battery drain and heating issues.
