A new OnePlus TV is all set to launch in India on July 2nd through an online event, as confirmed by the company’s CEO Pete Lau on Twitter. The tweet reads, “We’re making our premium smart TV experience more accessible to our Indian community #SmarterTV.” This suggests the upcoming TV will be a budget offering. To recall, OnePlus TV Q1 and Q1 Pro 55-inch smart TVs debuted in India back in September at a starting price of Rs 69,900. The new OnePlus TVs are aimed at bringing premium experience across different screen sizes to mid-range and budget segment.
Pete Lau, Founder and CEO, OnePlus, said, “In 2020, we aim to further enhance the OnePlus connected ecosystem experience. We look forward to offering a wider range of smart TVs that embody our burdenless technology experience and also provide a truly seamless smart TV experience for our community at an accessible price range. We believe the new range of OnePlus TVs will re-define the premium experience in their respective price segments by providing unparalleled quality, coupled with best-in-class displays and premium design.”
According to a report from ET citing sources familiar with the matter, the new OnePlus budget models will be priced around $200 (approx Rs 15,000), while the mid-range series is said to be placed between the Rs 20,000- Rs 40,000 segment. A new OnePlus TV with model number 55UA0A00 and OnePlus TV remote with model number RC-003A recently appeared on the Bluetooth SIG database. This could be another 55-inch offering from the company but will use standard LED panel instead of the QLED screen found on the original models. Unfortunately, not much else is known about the upcoming OnePlus TV yet, but we hope to across more information soon.
