OnePlus Buds Pro TWS earbuds have launched alongside the OnePlus Nord 2 mid-range smartphone. These are the company’s first high-end earbuds and their design resembles that of Apple’s AirPods Pro, meaning an in-ear design and a stem. The earbuds come with hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), thanks to three microphones to isolate the exterior noise and produce noise-cancelling counter frequencies. The earbuds are said to come with extreme and faint ANC modes, with the former isolating up to 40db and the latter cancelling noise up to 25db. There’s also a Smart Mode that intelligently responds to the environment and adjusts itself to compensate for ambient sounds.

OnePlus Buds Pro’s three-mic setup, together with wind-noise reducing mechanical and advanced noise reduction algorithm, allows for crystal clear calls even in a noisy environment, the company claims. The earbuds are equipped with 11mm large dynamic drivers and have support for Dolby Atmos (with compatible phones). OnePlus says that to further tune the audio experience, it has built a dedicated app called OnePlus Audio ID that allows users to customise the music settings according to their choice. Interestingly, the app will demo the audio settings and create a personal profile. There’s 94ms low-latency for gaming but requires OnePlus phones running OxygenOS 11 and above. The OnePlus Buds Pro connect via Bluetooth 5.2 and there’s wear detection that automatically pauses audio when earbuds are pulled out of the ear.

The OnePlus Buds Pro earbuds are also equipped with Zen Mode Air, whose settings can be found in the headphone settings or HeyMelody app. This mode offers a list of white noises to reduce stress and gives you a sense of calm during activities like yoga or meditation. This mode can be enabled by toggling the earbuds. The charging case is IPX4 rated, while the earbuds have an IP55 rating for water resistance. The OnePlus Buds Pro earbuds have a 40mAh battery each, while the carry case has a 520mAh battery. They are claimed to offer 38 hours on a single charge with ANC off and 28 hours with ANC enabled. Thanks to USB Type-C that support the Warp charge, a 10-minute charge is claimed to last up to 10 hours. There’s also support for Qi wireless charging.
