OnePlus is reportedly planning to enter the budget segment in India with a new ‘N series’. This is said to be an entirely new lineup of smartphones targeting the budget category. OnePlus is known to offer phones in the flagship and mid-range categories, but not in the budget-friendly segment. The recently launched OnePlus Nord CE6 Lite has a starting price of Rs 22,999. The rumoured OnePlus N smartphone lineup is said to be priced under Rs 20,000.
New budget OnePlus N smartphone series
According to a report by SmartPrix, citing tipster Yogesh Brar, the OnePlus N series will be a new budget lineup of multiple smartphones targeting different tiers. This would mean that we will soon see more affordable smartphones from OnePlus under the N series. The report adds that some of these smartphones will be priced under Rs 20,000. So it’s not clear if the entire lineup will cater to the budget category.
OnePlus is reportedly planning to introduce the new N series in India this July. This means that we won’t have to wait long for the rumoured OnePlus budget options.
The branding is interesting, though, as OnePlus already has the Nord lineup. So it could be that the new phones launch under the Nord series or an entirely different branding altogether. The sub-Rs 20,000 segment is also competitive, with good options from brands like Xiaomi, Lava, and iQOO. So, OnePlus would have to offer good value even in this segment.
There are no specifications revealed about the OnePlus N series, so we’re going to have to wait for more details before making any assumptions. OnePlus is known to offer performance-focused phones in the flagship and mid-range segments. However, it currently doesn’t have a hold in the budget segment. With the introduction of the OnePlus N series, the brand will be able to expand its market presence in one of the most popular price segments in the country.
Although we have very little information to go by, we can still expect the OnePlus N series to launch in India as rumoured. So, if you have been planning to purchase a new budget phone, then you might want to wait for the OnePlus N series. This is more for people who want OnePlus hardware and the OxygenOS experience, rather than waiting for the N series, which might be worthwhile, assuming OnePlus maintains its software quality at this price point.
