OnePlus phones under Rs 20,000 tipped to launch in India later this year or in Q2 2022

OnePlus phones under Rs 20,000 may launch in India next quarter or in Q2 2022, according to tipster Yogesh Brar. Here's what we know so far.

Highlights
  • OnePlus is rumoured to be working on sub-Rs 20,000 phones for India.
  • OnePlus phones under Rs 20,000 could launch next quarter or in Q2 2022.
  • These phones will likely be part of the Nord series.

OnePlus has been focussing its time and energy on the Nord series lately. The brand has launched several Nord-series phones around the world, three of which have made their way to India. The OnePlus Nord, Nord CE 5G, and Nord 2 have been launched with prices under Rs 30,000. It seems OnePlus is now looking to tap into the sub-Rs 20,000 segment in India – a market the brand tried to enter once before with the OnePlus X. Unfortunately, the OnePlus X failed to make a dent in the market, and OnePlus decided to discontinue the series altogether. Well, it looks like the brand will once again enter the sub-Rs 20,000 segment with affordable OnePlus phones, likely with the Nord series.

OnePlus phones under Rs 20,000 may launch as soon as next quarter

According to tipster Yogesh Brar, OnePlus is “going through a shift” in its launch strategy and is planning to launch a few phones under Rs 20,000 in India. While an exact launch date is unknown, the tipster claims OnePlus phones under Rs 20,000 could launch in the next quarter i.e October to December. If not next quarter, you can expect to see affordable OnePlus phones by Q2 2022.

Unfortunately, we have no idea what the upcoming sub-Rs 20,000 OnePlus phone will offer. There have been no leaks or rumours regarding an affordable OnePlus Nord phone lately. The company does offer the OnePlus Nord N200 5G under Rs 20,000, but that phone is exclusive to the US market. It seems unlikely the phone will make it to India later this year. However, its successor could launch in India, if there is a successor that is.

OPPO, as you may know, offers several phones under Rs 20,000 and the brand is now linked to OnePlus in more ways than one. It is possible that some affordable OPPO phones in the future may launch under the OnePlus branding, depending on how deep the relationship between the two brands goes. After all, OnePlus and OPPO have already begun sharing the ColorOS codebase.
