Not long ago, there were rumours of OnePlus shutting down. Looks like it shows no signs of slowing down in China at least, despite exiting America and Europe. The company is reportedly preparing another performance-focused smartphone, the OnePlus Turbo 7 Pro, with leaked specifications suggesting it could borrow several features from the recently unveiled flagship, the OnePlus 16. These include a super smooth display, a 200MP primary camera and a large battery.
Tipster Digital Chat Station shared the specifications of the purported OnePlus Turbo 7 Pro in a Weibo post, which was later edited. The phone is tipped to feature a 6.78-inch flat display with a 1.5K resolution and a 185Hz refresh rate. It could run on Qualcomm’s 3nm SM8845 Pro chipset, which has yet to be announced. Recent leaks suggest it could be marketed as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro. The same chipset is also rumoured to power the upcoming iQOO Z12 Turbo (iQOO 16R).
The phone could feature a 200MP primary camera with a large sensor. OnePlus is also reportedly working on an external cooling fan accessory that could connect through pogo pins on a compatible case. This could help manage temperatures during long gaming sessions, although details about the accessory remain scarce. Brands like ASUS (ROG Phone AeroActive Cooler), Black Shark, and RedMagic have sold external clip-on or magnetic semiconductor cooling fans for years, so this suggests the phone could be looking to target gamers specifically.
Battery capacity could be another highlight. The Turbo 7 Pro is tipped to pack at least a 9,000mAh battery, with engineering samples reportedly reaching 10,000mAh. The final capacity and charging speeds remain unknown.
The OnePlus Turbo 6 already features a 6.78-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset and a 9,000mAh battery. It also supports 80W wired charging and has a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS). The Turbo 7 Pro could bring a faster refreshing screen, a higher resolution camera and a newer processor. However, a 200MP sensor doesn’t automatically mean better photos, and details about the camera hardware and image stabilisation are yet to emerge. Interestingly, the leaked display, camera resolution and battery capacity match those reported for the OnePlus 16. The chipset is expected to be the main difference between the two phones.
OnePlus launched the Turbo 6 in China in January, and the phone later served as the basis for the Nord 6, which arrived in India in April. The Turbo 7 Pro could adopt a similar strategy, but an international launch hasn’t been confirmed.
Its pricing and launch date also remain unknown. If OnePlus brings the phone to India, its price and sustained gaming performance will determine how it compares with rivals such as the iQOO Z and upcoming Neo phones. Buyers should wait for confirmed details before judging it against the OnePlus 16 and other flagships and sub-flagships.
