OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has revealed a handful of new details about the upcoming OnePlus TVs ahead of their July 2nd launch in India. In an interview with Android Central, Lau said OnePlus wants to differentiate its products by focusing on two key pillars: design and user experience. The new affordable OnePlus TV lineup, which is confirmed to be priced in India under Rs 20,000, will tout an ultra-thin design that comes in at just 6.9mm — less than that of the OnePlus 8. Additionally, the display will come with slim bezels all around to offer an immersive viewing experience.

The low-cost OnePlus TVs are said to have carbon fibre pattern at the back, similar to the flagship Q1 series. While the company hasn’t shared the screen sizes of the TVs, rumours are rife that the new smart TVs could come in 32-inch and 43-inch variants. Lau confirmed that the TVs will have a screen-to-body ratio as high as 95 percent.

“While we are expanding to the premium affordable segment, our emphasis on design remains at the forefront as always. This is evident in our bezel-less design with a 95 percent screen to body ratio, which is common in high-range TVs but is a stand out feature in the premium affordable segment,” Lau said in the interview. As confirmed previously, the smart TVs will feature 93 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut and Dolby Vision for immersive viewing experience.

As for speakers, the new OnePlus TV will feature an innovative acoustic arrangement where the speakers are rotated by 90 degrees. The alignment will allow the company to fit two large full-range speakers on the TV that will reportedly result in 50 percent deeper bass. With the new OnePlus TVs, Lau said that the guiding principle was to deliver a “burdenless experience” with the TV being a “projection of the user’s personality.” The new OnePlus TVs are now available for pre-orders via Amazon India.
