“With the bundled Alexa skills, users can control basic features, such as turn on or off the TV, change input, adjust volumes, and switch between channels”
OnePlus TV, though there is no exact launch date yet, is confirmed to launch sometime this month. The company has kickstarted the promotions by teasing features like the Kevlar finish, Dolby Vision and Atmos, QLED panel and more. It’s also confirmed to run on the Android TV platform with promised updates for three years. The OnePlus TV will be exclusively available on Amazon online. Now, ahead of the launch, OnePlus TV Alexa skills were published on the Amazon India store, suggesting the TV will have Alexa voice support for hands-free voice control.
With the bundled Alexa skills, users can control basic features, such as turn on or off the TV, change input, adjust volumes, mute/unmute, and switch between channels using voice commands. To enable the Alexa skills, one should have a OnePlus account, and these are only available on Amazon India Skill store for now. For those unaware, Amazon integrates Alexa skills with third-party smart devices and these stay on the cloud. This means they can be enabled anytime. To remind you, OnePlus TV also supports Google Assistant and the TV remote control also has a dedicated button. It’s also possible these commands should work with Assistant as well.
OnePlus TV is expected to be powered by the MediaTek MT5670 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The company confirmed the TV would ship with Gamma Color Magic picture processor for realistic and immersive image quality. It will have seamless smartphone and content integration from various OTT platforms. The TV apart from being available via Amazon should hit offline retail stores as well. We should know more details in the next few days.
