“OnePlus TV is expected to be available in 43-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, and in 75-inch sizes and run on Android 9.0 Pie”
OnePlus TV is now officially confirmed to launch in September, starting with India, even ahead of the brand’s home market China. The company is aiming to position the TV in the premium price segment to take on the likes of Samsung, LG, and Xiaomi in the category. In the latest blog post, OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau promised the OnePlus TV would come with content integration from different providers and is claimed to be not only the centre of the smart home but also the centre of the daily smart social hub. This probably means the TV would come with impressive connectivity and dedicated social features. However, the CEO hasn’t revealed details regarding the TV size, configuration or other information.
Pete also mentioned the company is working towards introducing OnePlus TV in North America, Europe, and China regions as soon as it partners with local and regional content providers. However, a specific timeline isn’t mentioned. BIS certification and its support documents reveal OnePlus is using panels from TPV Display Technologies and the listing further claims the TV will be available in 43-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, and in 75-inch sizes, and feature 4K display resolution. The TV is expected to have Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and is likely to run on Android 9.0 Pie.
OnePlus TVs should be available exclusively via Amazon India online and it’s also possible that the brand might make the TV available through offline stores. They are expected to come with Amazon’s Alexa or Google Assistant digital assistant for hands-free voice solution. Although the brand has not mentioned any specific date just yet, earlier rumours suggest that the TV could be launched on September 26th. However, we should know more details in the coming few weeks.
