[Exclusive] OnePlus TV will be our next focus, coming to India soon: Vikas Agarwal

“The OnePlus TV has been in development since last year and is expected to become official in 2020”

OnePlus TV is the next big product in the Chinese brand’s lineup for the Indian market. 91Mobiles spoke to OnePlus India’s General Mamager Vikas Agarwal on the sidelines of the OnePlus 7 series launch in Bengaluru, India, to enquire about his company’s plans to bring home appliances to India. The OnePlus TV was officially announced to be in the making in September last year. However, the company has always remained on the backfoot when it comes to responding to updates on the product.

This indication from Agarwal appears to show positive signs for Indian customers, who are among the most important for OnePlus. The India head, however, did not give us any timelines and said that they were working on bringing the OnePlus TV to the country soon. The TV will likely be made available online via Amazon.in and OnePlus.in, and also offline via OnePlus Experience stores.

Back in October, a report had suggested that India would be one of the first few countries to get the OnePlus TV. It will likely be part of the premium television segment, but is expected to offer good features at a relatively affordable price point.

While details are few and far in between, what we know for sure is that OnePlus TV will sport a smart display and will be powered by an AI engine. Pricing details are not out yet, but it will be crucial for the company to price it competitively considering Xiaomi has been seen as OnePlus’ core competitor in terms of online sales strategy.
