New OnePlus smartwatch surfaces on FCC, hints at smaller 43mm model

Highlights
  • The FCC listing of the OnePlus Watch mentions the model number OPWE242.
  • The listing reveals the battery and network connectivity options.
  • It could be a rebrand of the OPPO Watch X2 Mini.

OnePlus Watch 3 debuted in global markets back in February as a successor to the Watch 2. However, the brand confirmed that it won’t be expanding to India and hasn’t explicitly mentioned the reasons. Now, in the latest development, we have spotted a new OnePlus smartwatch on the FCC certification. Here’s what we know.

New OnePlus Watch FCC details

  • The FCC listing, as spotted by 91mobiles, reveals the model number OPWE242. The rechargeable Li-ion battery polymer battery has the model number BLW018.
  • The FCC images show the OnePlus Watch will retain the same circular design and it has 48.03 mm x 43.14 mm dimensions. In comparison, the OnePlus Watch 3 measures 47.6 mm x 46.6 mm.
  • This could either be a new 43mm variant of the OnePlus Watch 3 or launch as a mini model.
  • Another image shows off the rotating crown, possibly for navigation. We can also see the magnetic pins on the back for charging.
  • The listing suggests the smartwatch would come with Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth connectivity options. The FCC certification mentions the software version: OPWE242_11_A.02.
  • The listing shows the new OnePlus Watch will pack a 345mAh battery. Interestingly, this is the same capacity present on the OPPO Watch X2 Mini that debuted in China recently.
  • This could be a hint that the OnePlus smartwatch could be a rebrand of the OPPO Watch X2 Mini, and might debut as the OnePlus Watch 3 Mini, as tipped recently.
  • The FCC listing shows the charging base model number: ODP52. This charging base is currently listed on the OnePlus global website at €29.99 (around Rs 3,000). The listing confirms that it is compatible with OnePlus Watch 3, OnePlus Watch 2, and OnePlus Watch 2R.

Based on the speculation that the OnePlus OPWE242 could be a rebrand of the OPPO Watch X2 Mini, here’s what to expect. It could come with a 1.32-inch AMOLED 2.5D display, Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and BES2700BP dual-chip setup, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, eSIM support for network connectivity and health tracking features like heart rate, SpO2 and others.

The OPPO Watch X2 Mini debuted in China at CNY 1,799 (around Rs 21,300). To recall, the OnePlus Watch 2 was launched in India at Rs 24,999
