OnePlus X tipped to make a return in 2020 under a new series

“While it isn’t clear what moniker the brand will be using, it’s possible the phone could be the much-rumoured OnePlus 8 Lite”

OnePlus X is the company’s only mid-range phone that was launched in 2015 with a price tag of Rs 16,999. Despite the compact form-factor, which was widely-appreciated, the phone didn’t see the kind of success that OnePlus would have wanted. This could be why the company hasn’t introduced a successor. However, that might be changing soon according to Max Weinbach who claims that OnePlus is planning on bringing back the budget line-up in 2020 but under different series. While it isn’t clear what moniker the brand will be using, it’s possible the phone could be the much-rumoured OnePlus 8 Lite. 91mobiles exclusively revealed the onePlus 8 Lite renders, key specifications, price and launch timeline recently.

The budget OnePlus phone could have a typical boxy design with a flat display, a traditional notch or a punch-hole cutout to house the selfie camera, triple cameras at the back and a mid-range chipset, presumably the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 SoC with 5G support. It could have an AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint sensor for security. The phone is likely to boot Android 10 OS with OxygenOS custom skin.
