Oplus XonPhone 5 with 5-inch HD display and Android KitKat lands in India for Rs 7,999

Oplus, the Taiwanese smartphone, maker launched its XonPad 7 Android slate in India in January this year. The value-for-money tablet offered 3G voice calling capabilities at Rs 9,999. Now, the company has launched its first smartphone, the XonPhone 5 in the country for Rs 7,999. Similar to the XonPad 7, the XonPhone 5 has also been exclusively launched in partnership with Snapdeal.

The Oplus XonPhone 5 flaunts a 5-inch HD OGS display with a pixel density of  320ppi. The processor ticking under the hood is a 1.3GHz quad-core MT6582 chipset from MediaTek. The processor is further aided by 1GB of RAM and a Mali 400 GPU. Similar to the recent crop of budget-friendly smartphones, the phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box and will also be getting future updates over the air.

XonPhone 5 Design

One of the main highlights of the XonPhone 5 is that it offers 16GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 32GB using a microSD card, while similar phones in this price range are offering 4GB or 8GB of internal memory. The cameras on board include a 2MP front snapper and an 8MP rear shooter with LED flash and 1080p recording capabilities. The camera also offers a ton of software tweaks like voice capture, face detection, HDR, self timer more. The dual-SIM smartphone offers the usual connectivity features like 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB and aGPS. The battery under the hood is rated at 2,000mAh.
