OPPO has expanded its range of A series smartphones in India with the launch of the OPPO A5. The phone comes as a budget offering with a notch above the display. The handset was originally unveiled in the brand’s home country China in July. As per our sources, the OPPO A5 has been priced at Rs 14,990, and is available via major brick-and-mortar stores across the country.
Talking about the specs, the OPPO A5 features a 6.2-inch HD+ display bearing an aspect ratio of 19:9. The phone is fuelled by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, aided by an Adreno 506 GPU. The Android Oreo-powered offering has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. For imaging, the smartphone offers a 13MP primary snapper at the rear, aided by a 2MP secondary shooter. For selfies and video calling, there’s an 8MP sensor at the front.
The OPPO A5’s connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and A-GPS. The smartphone has OPPO’s AI Beauty Technology 2.0, which is capable of recognising up to 296 facial points to enhance the output. The handset is fuelled by a 4,230mAh battery, which is touted to deliver up to 14 hours of video playback.
The OPPO A5 comes in blue and rose gold colour variants. At its price point, the smartphone will be competing against the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro (review) and Nokia 6.1 (review) in the country.
