OPPO’s next A-series smartphone – OPPO A5 has been subjected to a number of rumours and leaks in recent past. The last major leak came in form of the specs and renders spotted on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo. As it turns out, the leaked images and specs were pretty accurate as the brand has now gone ahead and launched the handset in China.
Delving into the spec sheet of the OPPO A5, it comes with a 6.2-inch HD+ display flaunting a 19:9 aspect ratio for the display cutout. OPPO claims that the display offers a screen-to-body ratio of 87.9 percent and is protected by a layer of the 2.5D curved glass panel. In the performance department, the smartphone gets a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC backed by Adreno 506 GPU. The processor is further backed by 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage, which can be further expanded. Coming to the software, the A5 boots ColorOS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
Moving on to the imaging department, the OPPO A5 comes with a dual camera setup on the back featuring a f/2.2 13-megapixel primary sensor backed by a f/2.4 2-megapixel secondary camera. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel shooter with OPPO’s AI Beauty Technology 2.0, which the brand claims can recognise up to 296 facial features. In terms of battery, the OPPO A5 has been equipped with a 4,230mAh battery, which OPPO claims can offer 14 hours of video playback or 11 hours of gaming on a single charge.
OPPO is offering the OPPO A5 in China in two hues – Mirror Blue and Mirror Pink. The handset has been priced at RMB 1,500 (~Rs 15,500) and will go on sale from July 13th. The brand has already started taking pre-orders for the handset in China.
