OPPO has given a Rs 1,000 price cut to its A5 affordable smartphone in the Indian market, 91mobiles has learnt from our retail chain sources. This brings down the OPPO A5 price in India to Rs 13,990, down from its launch price of Rs 14,990. The new price is already applicable in offline stores across the country, though online stores such as Amazon and Flipkart are still selling the OPPO A5 smartphone at its launch price.
The OPPO A5 was launched in August this year and competes against the likes of Redmi Note 5 Pro and ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 in terms of pricing. However, it is powered by the less powerful Snapdragon 450 SoC and comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage, with microSD card support up to 256GB. The smartphone has a 6.2-inch HD+ (720x 1,520 pixels) display with 18:9 aspect ratio as well as a wide notch and Android Oreo-based Color OS 5.1 custom OS. There is a fingerprint scanner on the back as well as Face Unlock functionality for security.
OPPO A5 has a dual camera setup with 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel sensors on the back, with f/2.2 and f/2.4 apertures respectively; the setup is backed by a LED flash. In the front is an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture with AI Beauty 2.0 technology for enhanced selfies. Battery capacity of the OPPO A5 is 4,230mAh. Connectivity suite of the handset includes 4G VoLTE, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, dual-SIM functionality, USB OTG support, and GPS. It comes in Diamond Blue and Diamond Red colour options, measures 156.1 x 75.6 x 8.2mm and weighs 170 grams.
