“The OPPO A5s is a slightly upgraded variant of the last year’s A5”
Last month, OPPO unveiled its latest A series smartphone, dubbed the A5s. The phone arrived as a slightly upgraded variant of the OPPO A5, which reached the Indian shores last year. Recently, the handset received BIS certification, hinting at its launch in India. Now, 91mobiles can confirm that the OPPO A5s will certainly be landing in the country very soon.
According to our retail chain sources, OPPO is planning to launch the A5s in India this month itself. The smartphone will be priced around Rs 15,000, as per our sources. Notably, its predecessor, the OPPO A5 is retailing in India in two storage variants – 32GB and 64GB, which are priced at Rs 11,990 and Rs 12,990 respectively. The upcoming A5s will be available to buy via major offline stores across the country. There’s no word if the handset will be up for grabs on the e-commerce portals at the moment.
Talking about the specs, the OPPO A5s shares most of the features from the OPPO A5, except for the display and chipset. The phone sports a waterdrop-style notch compared with the iPhone X-like cutout above the screen on the A5. Also, the A5s is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 processor, as opposed to the Snapdragon 450 powering its predecessor.
As for the other features, the OPPO A5s features a 6.2-inch in-cell HD+ display. The phone comes in multiple RAM and storage variants – 2GB / 3GB / 4GB and 32GB / 64GB, respectively. For imaging, the handset has a 13MP primary camera at the rear, aided by a 2MP secondary shooter. For selfies, there’s an 8-megapixel snapper on the front. Software-wise, the handset boots the dated ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. A massive 4,230mAh battery completes the list of the specifications.
