OPPO launched its first 10,000mAh phone, the OPPO A7 Pro Max, in China last month. It has now announced the launch of another battery-focused phone, the OPPO A7 Pro. The smartphone will make its debut in China on September 11th. The phone will also go on sale in the country on the same day. While OPPO has yet to reveal the complete specifications, its battery is already shaping up to be one of the phone’s biggest highlights.
OPPO A7 Pro specifications
The OPPO A7 Pro will pack an 8,000mAh battery, putting it firmly in the large-battery segment and making it an interesting option for users who prioritise endurance. It would likely compete with phones from brands like POCO and Realme, known to offer large battery phones in the budget segment. The phone will also feature an OLED display and ship with ColorOS 16, although OPPO has not yet disclosed details such as the screen size, resolution, or refresh rate. According to its TENAA listing, though, the A7 Pro is expected to feature a 6.57-inch FHD OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
For durability, the smartphone will carry an IP69K rating, suggesting that OPPO is targeting buyers who want stronger protection against dust and water.
OPPO’s teaser also offers a first look at the design. The A7 Pro appears to feature a single rear camera inside a horizontal, pill-shaped camera module, with an LED flash sitting alongside it. The rear panel gets a distinctive wave-like pattern, while the front has a centrally positioned hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera. The setup could include a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera.
The smartphone could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. This chipset should be good enough for everyday tasks but not for power users. The 8,000mAh battery could also be paired with 80W wired charging support.
The A7 Pro could appeal to buyers who want long battery life, a slightly compact OLED screen, and a durable build. However, the single rear camera suggests that photography may not be its primary selling point. The chipset might also be underwhelming if we’re talking about raw performance. The OPPO A7 Pro seems more targeted at the budget segment, with battery as its highlight.
If you’re currently using a phone with less than 5,000mAh and battery life is critical, this could be a significant upgrade, but consider its camera limitations.
