Last week, 91mobiles got to know exclusively that OPPO will be launching the A83 smartphone in India this month, priced below Rs 15,000. Now, OPPO has gone ahead and finally launched the smartphone in the country.
Coming to the spec sheet of the new smartphone, the handset flaunts an 18:9 display measuring 5.7-inches, and offering HD+ resolution (1,440 x 720 pixels). For performance, there is a 2.5GHz, octa-core MediaTek 6763T processor ticking at its core. The processor on the handset is backed by 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage, and the latter can be further increased by up to 128GB by inserting a microSD card. Moreover, taking a leaf out of Apple’s book, OPPO has ditched the fingerprint scanner completely in favour of face unlock.
Speaking of the facial recognition, OPPO claims thatthe phonescans 128 points on the user’s face to unlock the device in just 0.18 seconds. The front camera on the device is an 8-megapixel shooter, which has been integrated with AI technology for what OPPO is calling as Smart Selfie. We have already seen the same tech on the OPPO F5(review), where the selfie camera learns from selfies taken in the past and uses a global database to enhance each shot. Moving on, the rear panel of thesmartphoneis home to a 13-megapixel primary snapper with an LED flash. The connectivity features include 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm headphone jack, micro-USB and A-GPS.The phone runs ColorOS 3.2 based on Android 7.
