“Although it comes with a 2020 badge, the launch is expected in China and Indonesia this month itself “
While OPPO reportedly has Reno A series in the works, the company is also planning to refresh its already present OPPO A9, suggests a new leak. The upcoming OPPO A9 2020, as it is called, had its full spec-sheet leaked today along with a render. The OPPO A9 2020 will most likely continue its placement as an entry-level mid-range smartphone, as suggested by these leaks. Moreover, the smartphone is expected to launch this month itself in China and Indonesia amongst a frenzy of new high-end launches taking place. Notably, the OPPO A9 2020 comes with a quad-camera setup while its predecessor had dual rear cameras.
Coming to specifications, we start with the processor as the leak hints at a Snapdragon 665 SoC, along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The quad-camera setup consists of a 48MP primary sensor and an 8MP sensor (likely ultra-wide) along with a duo of 2MP sensors completing the setup. The front has a solitary 16MP selfie shooter, as per the source. The OPPO A9 2020 could also have a massive 5,000mAh battery to power the 6.5-inch screen, with a waterdrop notch, and will most likely run ColorOS 6.1.
In terms of dimensions, the handset measures 163.1mm x 75.6mm x 9.1mm and weighs 195g and should be available in Marine Green and Space Purple.
Considering these specifications are legit, this is a pretty big upgrade over the current OPPO A9, which comes with a MediaTek Helio P70 SoC, a 4,020mAh battery, and a 16MP rear shooter. We don’t know how this model will fit in with the upcoming Reno A series, which we think will also be positioned in the same segment. For now, an India launch is nowhere in sight.
