“The software update will add Hyper Boost technology to 17 OPPO smartphones, including Find X, A73, A5, etc”
OPPO today has announced the latest build of its custom UI, called the ColorOS 5.2.1. The software integrates the company’s latest Hyper Boost technology, which is claimed to improve the performance and power consumption of smartphones. Previously, only the OPPO R17 and R17 Pro were confirmed to receive the update; however, the phonemaker has now revealed that 17 of its devices will receive the latest version of the ColorOS starting this month.
Here’s the list of devices which will get OPPO’s ColorOS 5.2.1 update:
- OPPO Find X, later this month,
- OPPO R11, R11 Plus, R11s, R11s Plus, A83 and A1, in November,
- OPPO R9s, R17, R15, R15 Dream Mirror Edition, A5, A79, and A73 in December,
- And, OPPO R9s Plus, A77, and A3 in January 2019.
Talking about the new Hyper Boost technology, it was announced last week by OPPO. The technology is somewhat similar to the Huawei’s GPU Turbo that also enhances handset’s performance by better allocating resources. The new Hyper Boost technology is said to not only improve the gaming performance in smartphones but also help the apps to launch more swiftly.
The tech is said to use ‘Behaviour Aware Scheduling’ or BAS to adjust the frequency of the underlying smartphone hardware in just 0.2 milliseconds whereas the standard Android kernel takes 20 milliseconds. Hyper Boost does this by using a newly designed Linux task scheduler that can improve the system-level performance on smartphones powered by both Qualcomm and MediaTek chipsets.
