“The production name of the phone is as yet unclear, but speculations based on specs suggest it can be a premium 5G device under the Reno lineup.”
OPPO is seemingly working on a new, premium-end smartphone, suggests a filing for the same on the Bluetooth SIG certification site. The device goes with the name OPPO CPH2009 as of now, which is certainly only the internal nomenclature of the smartphone. According to the Bluetooth certification, the smartphone offers 5G connectivity and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor. It also features a 6.5-inch full HD+ display with an AMOLED screen and features a quad rear camera and a 32-megapixel front camera.
The quad-camera in question features a 48-megapixel primary sensor, coupled with 13-megapixel, 8-megapixel, and 2-megapixel additional units. While there are no descriptions on what each of these cameras do, it is likely that the OPPO CPH2009 has a telephoto lens and an ultra-wide-angle lens for two of the sensors, while the 2-megapixel unit may serve as a depth-sensing one. This makes for a fairly standard camera configuration for a premium-end smartphone nowadays.
The certification also mentions ColorOS 7 running on the device, which suggests Android 10 out of the box. It also affirms dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as Bluetooth 5.1. The only specifications that are amiss here are the amount of RAM and storage the OPPO CPH2009 would have, as well as the battery capacity and the fast charging standard used here. Given what we’ve come to see from smartphones nowadays, for a phone with such specifications, 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of native storage are in order. The battery capacity may also be above 4,000mAh, and OPPO’s Super VOOC fast charging standards going upward of 30W should be present as well.
It is not quite clear as to how such a smartphone would feature in OPPO’s lineup, and it is possible that the OPPO CPH2009 may become a successor to the present OPPO Reno 3 series in some way. Given that these certification entries crop up a few months ahead of a device’s actual launch, expect to hear officially from OPPO regarding this upcoming smartphone, sometime in the months to follow.
