Gaming | OPPO K13 |
Geekbench
To reiterate for the uninitiated, the Geekbench benchmarking app gauges the processor’s performance in two core areas, including single-core and multi-core. The former determines the processor’s prowess for light tasks, whereas the latter gives us an idea of how the processor handles intensive tasks like gaming and editing.
Unsurprisingly, the Geekbench scores of these two smartphones are nearly identical, given the same processor powering them. The Realme P3 is slightly faster with a 10 percent higher score in the single-core test and 0.3 percent higher in the multi-core test.
Real-world context: Based on the processor score alone, the OPPO K13 and Realme P3 are identical for daily and heavy tasks. In our prolonged usage, we found both smartphones equally powerful in productivity, entertainment, and gaming tasks.
Winner: Tie
AnTuTu
The AnTuTu app takes a more holistic approach to benchmarking, factoring in metrics like memory, GPU, and user experience instead of testing only the CPU. This gives us an idea of a device’s overall performance experience.
The Realme P3 scores 764,410 in AnTuTu benchmarking, whereas the Realme P3 clocks 699,303 points. This is a negligible difference of mere 8 percent, which again isn’t going to affect real-world performance.
Real-world context: The OPPO K13 and Realme P3 are both commendable mid-range smartphones designed to deliver smoother performance in gaming, multitasking, and general day-to-day use. Going solely by the benchmark scores, you can pick either and enjoy similar performance.
Winner: Tie
CPU throttle
Most of us use smartphones as a daily companion, sometimes for prolonged durations, to watch a show or play games with friends. Therefore, it’s crucial for them to offer good performance and provide sustained performance under heavy loads. We use the Burnout app to push these devices for long periods to throttle the CPU and measure the performance drop-off when the device heats up.
The OPPO K13 could sustain a whopping 80 percent of its peak performance under heavy load, which is impressive at this price point. In comparison, the Realme P3 could only sustain 54 percent of its maximum performance on the Burnout app.
Real-world context: The large 5,700mm square Vapour Chamber cooling and a 6,000mm square graphite sheet in the OPPO K13 help it manage thermal throttle more efficiently. This means that the smartphone will be able to maintain stability and perform optimally even when pushed to its limits for a prolonged duration.
Winner: OPPO K13
Gaming test
Average FPS during 30 minutes of gameplay (higher is better)
Games | Game settings (graphics + frames) | OPPO K13 | Realme P3 |
COD: Mobile | Medium + High | 53.8 | 59.5 |
Real Racing 3 | Standard | 59.8 | 59.7 |
BGMI | HD + High | 27.4 | 25.1 |
As was noticeable on the Geekbench and AnTuTu apps, both smartphones delivered similar performance during our gaming test. The handsets were tested using popular titles such as COD: Mobile, Real Racing 3, and BGMI in identical graphics settings. After playing games for 90 minutes, the devices offered similar frame rates.
Thermal performance
Temperature increase after 30 minutes of gaming (lower is better)
Games | OPPO K13 | Realme P3 |
COD: Mobile | 2.8 degrees Celsius | 7.7 degrees Celsius |
Real Racing 3 | 2.4 degrees Celsius | 9.8 degrees Celsius |
BGMI | 2.9 degrees Celsius | 6.6 degrees Celsius |
The gaming performance of both smartphones with respect to average FPS for each game is nearly identical. The OPPO K13 runs much cooler than the Realme P3 during 30-minute gameplay for each game. During our intensive gaming test, the device was up to 8 degrees Celsius cooler than the Realme P3.
Real-world context: Although the gaming performance of both devices is identical, the OPPO K13 emerges as the better smartphone here because of its superior thermal management. This means the OPPO K13 will offer better gaming performance with greater performance stability during prolonged sessions.
Winner: OPPO K13
Final Verdict
The OPPO K13 starts at Rs 17,999 for the base 8GB variant, whereas the Realme P3 costs Rs 16,999 for the base variant with 6GB of RAM. The former is slightly more expensive but offers more RAM for the markup, which is a novelty. If you are a regular user with a normal daily usage pattern, you can pick either the OPPO K13 or the Realme P3.
Both smartphones are powered by the same processor, resulting in near-identical performance in daily and heavy tasks involving gaming and editing. But if you are a power user who enjoys gaming, editing, or streaming on your smartphone for hours, the OPPO K13 with its segment-largest Vapour Chamber cooling system should be your pick.
