OPPO K14 with 7,000mAh battery launching in India on March 9th

Highlights
  • OPPO K14 will launch in two colour options.
  • It’s expected to cost more than the OPPO K14x.
  • The smartphone might bring upgrades over last year’s K13.

Less than a month after the OPPO K14x launched in India, the K14 is confirmed to arrive here. OPPO K14 is scheduled to debut in India on March 9th at 12 pm. OPPO’s K-series has been the brand’s value-driven range in the budget segment, sitting below the Reno lineup, offering buyers practical hardware without paying a premium. The first official details revealed by the brand include a 7,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support. This is slightly larger than the OPPO K14x’s 6,500mAh battery but with the same fast charging tech.

The battery seems to be the highlight of the OPPO K14, judging by its official teaser. With most brands now targeting 7,000mAh as the standard battery capacity, it’s not surprising that OPPO is also leading with this strategy.

OPPO hasn’t revealed any other specifications of the K14 other than its battery details. The smartphone’s design is slightly different from the K14x, as it features a square-shaped camera island with the sensors tucked inside. The K14x, on the other hand, has the sensors placed vertically and separately from the LED flash. One thing that’s similar is the prism design on the back panel of the OPPO K14. The smartphone is also confirmed to launch in two colours: white and purple.

Since no other details of the OPPO K14 have been revealed, we can only expect it to offer upgrades over its predecessor, the K13. Interestingly, the battery capacity is the same as the K13, but the charging speed has dropped from 80W to 45W. As for the rest of the hardware, here’s a recap of what the OPPO K13 offers. The smartphone has a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It houses a 50MP + 2MP dual-camera setup and a 16MP front camera.

The OPPO K13 (review) is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, which is expected to see an upgrade on the K14. Overall, the K13 delivers an outstanding battery life, smooth performance, impressive thermals, and good cameras for daylight photography. Its downsides were that the cameras produced average low-light photography and had too many pre-installed apps. If the OPPO K14 improves on these areas, it might be a worthy upgrade. As for those who are currently using the OPPO K13, you may want to wait for the complete details and reviews to see if there are any significant upgrades or only marginal.
