“OPPO A5 2020, F15, Reno 2, Reno 3 Pro and more phone prices have been increased by up to Rs 2,000”
Update: OPPO has provided a statement on the price hike. “As a customer-centric technology brand, OPPO is striving for keeping customer satisfaction at the core. OPPO has been providing cutting-edge technology to consumers at different segments for the Indian market. OPPO respects the decision from the GST (Goods and Services Tax) Council, after serious consideration, we have revised the prices of our products from April 1, 2020, across all platforms. We will keep monitoring the market situation and pass on the benefits to our consumers in our endeavour of bringing the best products to them at an affordable price range in the future.”
OPPO has increased the prices of its smartphones effective from 1st April 2020. This comes after the Indian government had hiked the GST rate from 12 percent to 18 percent, which is a 50 percent jump. Vivo has also announced new prices for its phone while Xiaomi has announced it has increased the prices of its Redmi and Mi phones in India, although the new prices are not yet reflecting on Mi.com. 91mobiles has learned from retail sources that OPPO has increased prices of some of its phones by up to Rs 2,000. These models include OPPO A5 2020, OPPO F15, Oppo Reno 2, and Reno 3 Pro, among others. As of writing this story, the new prices aren’t reflecting on e-commerce platforms like Flipkart and Amazon, but are applicable through offline retail stores. Below are the new prices of OPPO smartphones.

While these are the new prices of existing OPPO phones, you can expect upcoming phones to be slightly more expensive than what OPPO typically prices them due to the GST rate hike.
The depreciation of the Indian Rupee could also be another reason for the price hike, as stated by Xiaomi. In order to keep up with the increased GST rate and profit ratio, smartphone brands can do nothing but increase the pricing of their phones. Brands like Realme, Samsung and more are also expected to announce new prices soon enough.
