OPPO R15x with under-display fingerprint scanner, Snapdragon 660 goes official

OPPO R15x has been launched the company’s home country just a week after it was spotted on a bunch of certification sites and benchmarking app. The smartphone is a mid-range offering that is powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC, sports dual cameras on the back, and sports a waterdrop notch up front. OPPO is forging ahead with gradient colour options for the R15x smartphone, something that is fast becoming a trend in the smartphone market.

The company has launched the latest mid-range offering in two gradient hues – Glacier Silver and Nebula. The smartphone comes in a single variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage and is slated to go on sale in China from November 1st through both online and offline channels. The OPPO R15x price has been set at RMB 2,499, which is roughly Rs 26,410.

The OPPO R15x ships with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, which comes with a screen resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The display panel also features the waterdrop notch and a 2.5D curved glass layer on the top. At the core, the handset gets Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 chipset backed by Adreno 512 graphics. The processor is further backed by 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage, The onboard storage can be further expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. For security, the smartphone comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Coming to the camera department, the handset has been equipped with a dual camera module on the rear panel. The setup flaunts a 16-megapixel primary snapper backed by a secondary 2-megapixel shooter and LED flash. On the front, the latest launch comes with a 25MP shooter for selfies and video calling. In the software department, the R15x boots the ColorOS 5.2 based on the last generation Android 8.1 Oreo. For power requirements, the smartphone relies on a 3,600mAh battery.
