“The OPPO R17 and R17 Pro are the mid-range offerings from OPPO with the waterdrop-style notch and Super VOOC fast charging”
OPPO has announced an event on December 17th in China where it’ll be taking the wraps off the OPPO R17 and R17 Pro New Year Edition smartphones. The handsets that were recently launched in India are likely to get a new design and a customised theme for ColorOS. Beyond this, we don’t expect any alteration on OPPO R17 and R17 Pro core specs in the New Year Edition. Similar changes have been seen on the vendor’s previous attempts with a special edition handset.
The price and other information about the devices will be known at the time of launch; however, we expect it to be slightly higher than the regular edition of OPPO R17 and R17 Pro. OPPO has already started receiving registration on e-tailer site JD.com.
OPPO R17 and R17 Pro specifications
To recall, the OPPO R17 and R17 Pro both sport 6.4-inch AMOLED displays with full-HD+ resolution and a waterdrop-style notch. They both come with in-display fingerprint sensor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB internal storage. The notable differences between the two are chipsets, cameras, and battery. The ‘Pro’ model is driven by an upper mid-range Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 SoC and houses a 3,700mAh battery with Super VOOC fast charging support. In optics, it sports 12-megapixel + 20-megapixel + 3D ToF camera lens on the rear with LED flash, while on the front, you get a 25-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling.
The OPPO R17, on the other hand, rocks Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 670 chipset and packs a 3,500mAh battery with Super VOOC fast charging support. For photography, it relies on dual 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel sensors at the back and a 25-megapixel shooter on the front.
