OPPO Reno 3 has been launched globally months after making its debut in China. The handset is the younger sibling of the OPPO Reno 3 Pro smartphone, which was launched in India earlier this month. The OPPO Reno 3 global version comes with 4G connectivity and MediaTek Helio P90 chipset as opposed to the 5G MediaTek Dimensity 1000 SoC on the Chinese variant. Additionally, the handset’s front camera has been upgraded to 44MP from 32MP, while the quad-rear camera setup has been downgraded to 48MP from a 64MP main sensor. Here’s a quick look at the OPPO Reno 3 specifications as the phone may launch in India in the near future, although the company has not confirmed this just yet.

OPPO Reno 3 price, availability

OPPO Reno 3 global variant price is yet to be revealed. We expect the phone to be priced slightly more affordably compared to the 5G Reno 3, which starts at RMB 3,399 (~Rs 35,900) for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage option. The handset is currently listed on the OPPO Sri Lanka website with Auroral Blue and Midnight Black colour options. It’s unclear when the phone will be available for sale in the country.

OPPO Reno 3 specifications include a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with Full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,400 pixels) resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 90.8 percent screen-to-body ratio, and waterdrop notch for the selfie camera atop. The handset has MediaTek Helio P90 chipset coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage under the hood. The 5G variant of the phone, meanwhile, comes with 12GB RAM variant as well. The OPPO Reno 3 houses a 4,020mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge support that is rated to juice up the battery from 0 to 50 percent in just half-an-hour.

OPPO Reno 3 quad camera setup includes a 48MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens, 13MP secondary sensor with a telephoto f/2.4 lens, 8MP tertiary sensor with a wide-angle f/2.2 lens, and a 2MP monochrome sensor with an f/2.4 lens. For selfies and video chats, the phone relies on 44MP shooter with an f/2.4 lens. The cameras are backed by 5x hybrid zoom, 20x digital zoom, and features such as Ultra Steady Video 2.0, AI Beauty Video, Video Bokeh, and Soloop.

Software-wise, the handset runs Android 10-based ColorOS 7 out of the box. It touts a ‘Hidden’ fingerprint unlock 3.0 sensor, which OPPO claims can unlock the device in one motion. The vendor has optimised anti-counterfeit identification on OPPO Reno 3 to improve security. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, USB. Lastly, the smartphone measures 160.2×73.3×7.9mm and weighs 170 grams.
