“The Reno Ace will be the first OPPO handset to carry the latest generation of SuperVOOC fast charging technology”
OPPO has just announced the Reno Ace will be launched on the 10th of October. The company’s teaser for the flagship Reno handset posted today also contains confirmation of one of the USPs of the handset – 65W charging. This was earlier revealed by OPPO VP Shen Yiren that the company’s SuperVOOC Charge technology is about to undergo an upgrade. This announcement comes just days after the Reno 2 mid-range series was announced in China. This is a lineup that sits below the Reno 10X Zoom and does not replace it. In fact, the Reno Ace is likely to be a successor to the first Reno handset.
Now, the teaser only says this much but Chinese media has a good idea of what to expect from the upcoming flagship. The Reno Ace will likely feature a Snapdragon 855+ SoC and a 90Hz display. Rumour is that it could also likely to get a curved screen along with 5G features. However, An OPPO handset with model number PCKM70 was spotted on TENAA this month with 5G capabilities. TENAA’s database images don’t show a curved screen but a design very similar to the Reno 2. Hence, it is also possible that the Reno Ace is actually a flagship Reno 2 handset.
As for the 65W SuperVOOC fast charging tech, it succeeds OPPO’s current 50W speed, which is already blazing fast and the current industry leader. With 65W, we can expect even more spectacular results. The 50W charger is capable of fully juicing up a 3700mAh battery in roughly 35 minutes. After OPPO’s upgrade, OnePlus Warp Charge is also expected to make the jump to 40W and Realme to 30W this year.
