“It’s still not clear whether OPPO is using a pop-up camera design or a slider mechanism for the front camera”
April is shaping up to be an interesting month with a number of launches, including OPPO’s first Reno series smartphone. The brand new series has been teased a lot and despite all that, the full design, especially the front, and looks of the handset remain a mystery. That changes today with a video clip of the alleged smartphone showing the front and rear of the handset. As is usual, the clip comes from a Chinese social media and shows the Reno smartphone in the flesh for the first time. This comes after OPPO’s VP shared images of all the four colour variants of the smartphone yesterday.
Taking a look at the video, the first thing that is worth noting is the fully bezel-less display. Being a flagship series, it was presumed that OPPO would use a screen solution similar to the Find X. However, we’re still not sure if it’s a pop-up front camera in there or a slider mechanism similar to the Find series. That’s because the short video clip doesn’t exactly show the front camera at all. It does, however, show the rear which is covered in a plastic wrap and hence doesn’t clearly show the camera sensors. There is no fingerprint reader on the back, which means the sensor will probably be on display. There are still a couple of weeks to go before the launch event and, given the rate of leaks, we could possibly see even more detailed images that reveal the complete design will all details.
The OPPO Reno is expected to launch in the European market too as the EU IPO trademark granted certification to five Reno monikers. It seems OPPO will be offering a wide range of choices to buyers starting with an affordable Lite variant sporting a Snapdragon 710 SoC going all the way up to a full-blown Lamborghini Edition with Snapdragon 855. The series launches on April 10th.
