“OPPO has shared a number of images demonstrating the lowlight camera prowess of the Reno phone”
While OPPO has decided to take legal action against OPPO Reno leaksters in its ranks, the info stream from unofficial sources sure doesn’t show any signs of stopping. There’s a lot we already know about the series but some things still remain unknown. Now, two tipsters have leaked a bunch of information about the upcoming Reno phone, including the alleged price, name, configuration, and more. Of course, as many as five models in the Reno series could be in the making, so this information is limited to just the top-end Snapdragon 855 SoC model.
As per Indian tipster Ishan Agarwal, the Snapdragon 855-powered high-end OPPO Reno phone will come in just a single configuration – 8GB + 256GB – and will weigh 215 grams. The phone is claimed to carry the moniker OPPO 10X Zoom, highlighting the brand’s new hybrid zoom lens. Another tipster from Vietnam has shared the OPPO Reno phone price details for the high-end Snapdragon 855 variant. If the tipster is correct, the handset will cost between VND 14 million and VND 15 million (about Rs 41,500 to Rs 44,500). Considering this price point, the handset will be relatively affordable compared to R17 Pro and the Find X and in line with the OnePlus 6T. As can be seen from the tweet below, the phone will be positioned as a rival to the Huawei P30 and the Samsung Galaxy S10e.
Meanwhile, OPPO itself has teased quite a bit of the new Reno smartphone and continues to do so. A new poster shared on Weibo shows the razor-thin bezels on the upcoming phone with a 93.1 percent screen-to-body ratio. The chin is 3.49mm and the sides measure 1.59mm, which is even slimmer than the earlier reported 1.63mm. Furthermore, the company also teased a sequel to the Ultra-clear engine (which is its camera night mode) called Ultra Clear Night View 2.0. The original version debuted on the R17 Pro and it had commendable low-light photography prowess. OPPO also shared a video teaser along with night shots taken with the 48MP sensor in Chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, etc
OPPO recently is taking legal steps to slap a $75000 penalty on the leakster who originally leaked the wedge-shaped pop-up camera design of the phone. The Chinese smartphone maker is also considering actions against other store executives and dealers who shared such information. The OPPO Reno launches on April 10th in China.
