OPPO patent reveals designs of two new truly wireless earbuds

“Both the OPPO wireless earbuds are expected to come with noise cancellation and a microphone to take calls”

OPPO has filed a patent for two new truly wireless earbuds. While one has a stem design similar to the AirPods Pro with silicone ear tips, the other has a small pod-shaped design much like the Samsung Galaxy Buds. The patent was filed way back in April 2019 and was authorized on February 18th 2020. The patent, discovered by 91mobiles, shows off the two TWS earbuds from all angles. The stem type wireless earbuds will likely succeed the OPPO Enco Free TWS earbuds, which are expected to launch in India soon.

Patent images suggest the earbuds will have a button or a touch sensor on the surface to change music tracks, take calls and more. There’s also a microphone near the buds which will likely detect external sound and block to offer better noise cancellation, aided by silicone ear-tips. Interestingly, the inside of the earbuds show three holes that could be for charging purposes and a proximity sensor for wear detection.

Moving to the smaller OPPO earbuds, images show they are very compact and offer a secondary speaker above the ear-tip in green, similar to the Galaxy Buds+. The earphones may offer some sort of noise cancellation support as well. However, we don’t get see their carrying case just yet. Either way, that’s everything we know about the OPPO’s upcoming truly wireless earbuds and there’s no way tell if and when OPPO would launch them commercially.

OPPO Enco Free specifications

OPPO Enco Free wireless earbuds claim to last up to five hours on a single charge as each earbud packs a 31mAh battery. The 410mAh carry case will offer an additional 20 hours of music playback or three hours of talk time. These have instant connect feature, similar to Realme Buds Air. The in-ear style design with silicone ear tips offer a comfortable grip in the ear. The Enco earbuds have a 13.4mm dynamic driver and a driver sensitivity of 120db.

The OPPO Enco Free TWS earbuds connect via Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and have Binaural Simultaneous Bluetooth transmission that delivers sound to the left and right ears simultaneously. They have AI uplink noise cancellation during calls and OPPO says that the system-wide optimisations can eliminate any delay or lag during music playback. The charging case has a USB Type-C port and the earbuds are IPX4 water-resistant. OPPO Enco Free true wireless earbuds price is set at RMB 699 in China, which translates to Rs 7,120 roughly.
