OxygenOS 13 features

OnePlus Game engine

OxygenOS 13 is said to combine its faster, smoother experience and more stable performance with an all-new Aquamorphic design, which is apparently an inspiration from the flow of water. It offers soft and rounded edges across the UI. OnePlus says the new update also makes widgets more accessible through one long press. Furthermore, the colours of OxygenOS 13’s design will intelligently transition to match the time of day you are using the device.

There’s an inbuilt AI system booster with advanced, intelligent memory management systems that will allow you to suspend more applications at once, which will allow you to quickly jump from one app to another. This is claimed to offer a faster, smoother, and uninterrupted experience. This will also help in better memory management, says OnePlus.

OxygenOS 13 AOD

For aesthetics, OnePlus is also adding new AOD (always-on-display) screens to the OxygenOS 13. It is getting more contextual-based recommendations for AoD. In India, the AOD feature will have tracking of food deliveries from Swiggy and Zomato. Besides these, you can also get Spotify’s AoD widget and much more options to customisation options like Bitmoji, Canvas, etc.

With OxygenOS 13, OnePlus’s smart launcher lets you access applications from folders faster by making folders and their contents larger on your home screen (Similar to the Nothing Launcher). Apps within the folders can be tapped directly without opening the folder itself.

Smart launcher

OnePlus is adding a new sidebar toolbox that will enable a better one-handed user experience. This will bring up some pre-installed apps and tools like calculator, notes and more. The biggest addition to OxygenOS 13 will offer support for spatial audio that will have sound coming around you. This lets you adjust the direction of sound in different applications. However, users will need compatible hardware. There is support for Dolby Atmos as well.

Fast Pair allows you to seamlessly connect your device with supported wireless earbuds and headphones. Audio Switch allows you to easily switch from one audio device to another, or vice versa. OxygenOS 13 also gets features like HyperBoost Gaming Engine, Nearby Share which lets you transfer content from Android and Windows devices, and App streaming allows you to cast screen content to other nearby ChromeOS devices.

The OxygenOS 13 will automatically warn of risky applications and downloads for improved safety. There’s Private Safe 2.0 that secures data, documents, and media files in a virtual safe so other applications cannot access them.
