Panasonic has launched a slew of budget smartphones in India this year. All of the company’s entry-level smartphones now come with 4G and VoLTE. Now expanding its range of budget devices, the brand has launched a new P series smartphone in the country called the Panasonic P9. It is an entry-level offering with Android 7.0 Nougat, dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, VoLTE (voice over LTE) and a layer of Asahi Dragontrail glass on top of the display for protection against scratches.
Coming to the other features, the Panasonic P9 offers a 5-inch IPS HD display, and is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737M processor. The phone comes with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, which can be further increased up to 32GB. The camera department includes an 8-megapixel primary shooter with f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front snapper with f/2.4 aperture.
The connectivity department on the Panasonic P9 includes 4G LTE, VoLTE, dual-SIM slots, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, FM Radio and A-GPS. The phone supports 4G and 3G on one SIM slot and 2G on the other. The handset is fuelled by a 2,210mAh battery, which should last for at least a day on moderate usage.
“P9 is equipped with all that you need to capture the world around you flawlessly and keeps everything you love. Targeted towards consumers who are always on the go, look for durability in display screen and want a smooth multitasking experience with the latest Android Nougat 7.0,” said Pankaj Rana, Business Head – Mobility Division, Panasonic India.
As for the pricing, the Panasonic P9 has been priced at Rs 6,290, and will be available via major brick-and-mortar stores across the country. The device is being offered in two colour variants – Champagne Gold and Black.
