“POCO F2 will have narrow bezels on the sides, a waterdrop notch to house the selfie camera, and a thick chin, the screen protector shows”
POCO F2 has been at the centre of speculation for the past couple of months as uncertainty over the POCO brand looms. Although official sources are being quite noncommittal about it, a couple of fresh rumours and leaks are hinting that the POCO F2 is indeed in the works. A leaked screen protector of the alleged POCO F2 has surfaced today, showing the handset will have a waterdrop notch design. This leak is being reiterated by another rumour that the POCO F1 (review) successor is coming for sure, with an AMOLED display in tow.
We have previously seen concept renders of the POCO F2 that depicted a waterdrop notch design and this is the first time a screen protector of the suspected device has popped up. Given the lack of any official confirmation regarding the brand’s future, we’d be very cautious not to draw any certain conclusions from this. On the other hand, Xiaomi India Head of Marketing Anuj Sharma in an interview with 91mobiles had said that the company is still mulling the brand’s future. This is a definite official confirmation that the POCO F1 successor could come sometime in the future although it might take time. However, a recent report citing analysts claims that POCO brand will be shut down even as the brand claims it has not decided anything at the moment.
There has been almost a vacuum of leaks regarding the ultra-affordable budget flagship since the release of the POCO F1. There was a concept render made by Ben Geskin on Twitter in January that showed a potential POCO F2 design. It also had a waterdrop notch and dual rear cameras but that’s pretty much it. We can also expect the handset to feature a Snapdragon 855 SoC as that’s what the POCO brand promises. Speculation is rife that the POCO F2 could be priced below the Redmi K20 around the Rs 20,000 – Rs 22,000 bracket so as to avoid a clash with the Redmi K20 Pro.
