- POCO earlier said that Redmi K30 Pro will not launch in India as the POCO F2
- The brand has confirmed that the POCO F2 will not be priced on similar lines as POCO F1
Just last month, an XDA Developers report found out that the MIUI camera code suggested that the Redmi K30 Pro might launch in India under the POCO brand. Now, Google Play’s list of supported devices has revealed that the Redmi K30 Pro might indeed launch in India as the ‘POCO F2 Pro’. Despite last month’s report, this comes as a surprise as the brand’s General Manager C Manmohan explicitly clarified earlier that the POCO F2 will not be a rebranded version of Redmi K30 Pro.
Although technically he will still be correct as POCO F2 Pro is suggested to be the rebranded version of K30 Pro, this might come across as a letdown to some users as the POCO F2 is then likely to be a stripped-down variant of the Pro model of the phone.
POCO F2 Pro price and specifications
Notably, the executive also confirmed that the POCO F2 price will not be on similar lines as its predecessor. As the POCO F2 is likely to come with less impressive specifications than the F2 Pro, it will be interesting to see where the brand will eventually place it in its portfolio. As the POCO F2 Pro is expected to launch in India as a rebranded Redmi K30 Pro, the handset is likely to come with a 6.67-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display. The handset may, however, feature higher refresh rate than the K30 Pro as the Redmi K30 Pro offers only a 60Hz display. In terms of processing performance, the POCO F2 Pro is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 865 SoC, coupled with Adreno 650 GPU and 6GB/8GB of LPPDDR5 RAM. The phone could be offered with 128GB and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Talking about cameras, the Redmi K30 Pro features a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor, a 5MP telephoto lens, a 13MP 123-degree ultra wide-angle lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. At front, the K30 Pro packs a 20MP front camera. POCO F2 Pro can be expected to feature similar specs in terms of optics. The smartphone will most likely run Android 10-based MIUI 11 out of the box. The handset can come with a 4,700mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging.
