POCO M2 Pro (Review) has finally been launched in India and as expected it is a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro, specifically the global variant. The POCO M2 Pro has been launched starting under Rs 15,000. It not only shares the same pricing as the Redmi Note 9 Pro India variant, but also a lot of the same specifications as well. The POCO M2 Pro touts a punch-hole display, the Snapdragon 720G SoC, and quad rear cameras, much like the Redmi Note 9 Pro. But the POCO M2 Pro does offer some tweaks of its own that makes it slightly different from the Redmi Note 9 Pro. We compare the two smartphone to see which one is worth buying under Rs 15,000. 

POCO M2 Pro vs Redmi Note 9 Pro prices in India

POCO M2 Pro price in India starts at Rs 13,999 for the base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB. It also comes in a 6GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB variants, which cost Rs 14,999 and Rs 16,999, respectively. The handset will go on sale in India from July 14th in ‘Out of the Blue’, ‘Green and Greener’, and ‘Two Shades of Black’ colour options. 

The Redmi Note 9 Pro is also available in India at Rs 13,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and Rs 16,999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option. The phone comes in Aurora Blue, Glacier White, and Interstellar Black colours and is available via flash sale on Mi.com and Amazon.in in the country.

POCO M2 Pro vs Redmi Note 9 Pro: The similarities

There are tons of similarities between the two phones. The POCO M2 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro both sport a 6.67-inch Dot notch display that bears Full-HD+ resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, a standard 60Hz refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 layer atop. Both the phones are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. There is a dedicated microSD card slot on both phones to further expand the storage up to 512GB.

Around the back, the POCO M2 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro both feature quad rear cameras in a square-shaped module. The cameras include 48MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide sensor, 5MP macro sensor, and 2MP depth sensor. The front camera of the phones features a 16MP sensor for selfies and video calling.

Apart from this, both phones feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, P2i water-repellent nano-coating technology and standard connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Dual SIM support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

POCO M2 Pro vs Redmi Note 9 Pro: The differences

While the POCO M2 Pro is a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro, it still tries to offer something unique and different. The POCO phone comes with a dual-tone finish on the back to offer a fresh look. While it houses a slightly smaller 5,000mAh battery, it supports 33W fast charging, which is significantly faster than the 18W fats charging on the Redmi Note 9 Pro. Software-wise, both phone run on Android 10-based MIUI 11, but the POCO M2 Pro comes with the POCO launcher, which means you get an app drawer and no ads.
