POCO X4 Pro 5G vs Realme 9 Pro: Design, specifications, and features

Design

POCO’s latest smartphones have unique designs, and that’s the case with the latest X4 Pro 5G. From the front, and the sides, the phone resembles the Redmi Note 11 Pro series. That’s not really a surprise since the X4 Pro 5G is basically a rebranded Note 11 Pro+ with subtle design changes and different color options. The POCO phone has a centrally located punch-hole cutout on the front with slim bezels and a noticeable chin. It has flat sides with the volume and the power button on the right side. At the back, the phone features a large camera module that spreads across the top part of the phone with the POCO branding. A 5G symbol is placed at the bottom of the rear panel. The phone is available in POCO Yellow, Laser Black, and Laser Blue colours.

POCO X4 Pro design

The Realme 9 Pro, on the other hand, has a rather simple design. It features a punch-hole cutout on the front, which is placed at the top left corner. The power button with the fingerprint scanner is placed on the right side, whereas the volume buttons are on the left. At the back, a rectangular camera module houses a triple camera setup. The rear panel features a texture and the Realme logo. The sunrise blue and aurora green color options will definitely stand out more than the POCO X4 Pro 5G as it has a striking rear panel.

Processor, storage, RAM

In the hardware department, both smartphones offer similar features. The POCO X4 Pro 5G and the Realme 9 Pro are powered by the Snapdragon 695 5G chipset. This processor should offer enough performance for all kinds of tasks, including gaming. Both devices offer a maximum of 8GB RAM, but the POCO X4 Pro is available with three storage options. You get a maximum of 128GB of internal storage on both phones, and a microSD card slot is available for storage expansion.

Display

Coming to the display, the POCO X4 Pro 5G has a better panel. It features a 6.67-inch FHD+ resolution AMOLED display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and features a central punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. It gets slim bezels and a chin at the bottom. The display offers good brightness and a 360Hz touch response rate.

Realme 9 Pro+ display

The Realme 9 Pro also offers similar display specs but comes with an LCD panel. Its 6.6-inch panel also gets a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. The panel offers a 240Hz touch response rate.

Cameras

Realme 9 Pro+ camera

Both smartphones feature a triple rear camera setup that comes with the same sensor set. They both get a primary 64-megapixel sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide unit, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. For selfies, both phones use a 16-megapixel sensor housed inside a punch-hole cutout in the display. Since both phones have a very similar camera setup, we can expect similar camera performance from them.

Battery

The POCO X4 Pro 5G comes with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging, which can charge the phone from 0 to 100 percent in 41 mins. Meanwhile, the Realme 9 Pro also gets a large 5,000mAh battery, but only gets 33W fast charging support.

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, both smartphones offer pretty much the same features. You get a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, 5G, and dual-band Wi-Fi. The POCO X4 Pro also gets an infrared port and FM Radio.

POCO X4 Pro 5G vs Realme 9 Pro: Verdict

The POCO X4 Pro 5G and the Realme 9 Pro are excellent mid-range 5G smartphones and share the same hardware when it comes to processor, RAM, and storage. The triple camera setups on both devices are also very similar. The difference arises in the type of display panel used, charging speeds, and price. The POCO X4 Pro offers an AMOLED screen whereas the Realme 9 Pro comes with an LCD panel. You get 67W charging on the POCO, while the Realme only offers up to 33W fast charging. The Realme 9 Pro is Rs 1,000 cheaper than the POCO offering, which is the only reason you might want to get this phone. If you’re okay with splurging another Rs 1,000, then you should probably get the new POCO X4 Pro 5G.
